International Rafting Days 2023 Wolfratshause and the meeting in Magdeburg

These days in the host town Wolfratshausen took place the International Rafting Days.

It was joy to reunite, there were conversations, discussions, celebrations and much more, a unique moment to savor.

At the Magdeburg meeting 28 associations from 9 countries participated, with about 230 members, including Petroaqua. Guests enjoyed the Bavarian rafting tradition as well as a festive evening in the Loisachhalle.

The international rafting community stands more firmly together to preserve and pass on its Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.

And a new statute was adopted, with a new name (International Association of Timber Rafting) and new headquarters – Saxony-Anhalt’s capital Magdeburg!

The event was significant, with articles about the International Rafting Days 2023 and the Meeting in Magdeburg appearing in today newspapers such as „Isar-Loisach Boten” and „Magdeburger Volksstimme”.

According to the press, presenter Ludwig Gollwitzer proved for the first time that the internet encyclopedia Wikipedia was wrong. “It says there that rafting is an extinct profession in Europe,” he shouted to the crowd. He was met by loud cries of protest in various languages.

Gollwitzer’s conclusion:

The rafting profession is alive!

Mayor Klaus Heilinglechner then began by thanking the families of Franz and Josef Seitner and Michael Angermeier from Arzbach, who organise pleasure trips on the Isar and Loisach rivers and thus maintain the tradition..
